Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who has represented New Jersey’s 5th congressional district since 2017, recently shared updates on his official X account regarding community engagement and legislative priorities.
On April 16, 2026, Gottheimer posted about a recent event in Washington with a local sports team: “It was great hosting @Giants in Washington! It’s always inspiring to see the dedication, teamwork, and passion up close. Looking forward to another exciting season! “
The following day, he highlighted constituent services available in Wyckoff: “The #TeamGottheimer Constituent Services Team will be holding mobile office hours in Wyckoff today, Friday, April 17. If you’re experiencing an issue with your VA benefits, Social Security, Medicare, or need help with a federal agency, we’re here to listen & help.” This reflects his ongoing focus on providing support for residents dealing with federal agencies.
Later on April 17, Gottheimer addressed concerns related to tax policy affecting middle-class families: “This is about teachers, cops, firefighters, nurses — the backbone of our communities. Middle-class Jersey families shouldn’t be taxed twice. We’re going to fix the SALT marriage penalty and put money back in your pocket.”
Gottheimer’s advocacy for local issues comes as part of his broader service record. Born in Livingston in 1975 and now residing in Wyckoff—where he held the aforementioned office hours—he brings both local roots and academic credentials from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD) to his role as congressman for New Jersey’s 5th district.
