Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, posted a series of tweets on October 19, 2025, addressing military support, international hostages, and infrastructure concerns.
In a tweet posted at 13:46 UTC, Gottheimer wrote: “This fall, I was proud to help put together care packages for our troops abroad with @The_USO. We must always get the backs of the brave men and women in uniform who help protect our country.”
Later that day at 19:36 UTC, he discussed foreign policy issues on national television: “I joined @Morning_Joe this week to discuss how we must ensure the return of all remaining 10/7 hostages and continue to stand with Ukraine against Putin’s dictatorial march. Watch https://t.co/baCuTTDosE”
At 23:29 UTC on the same day, Gottheimer criticized former President Trump’s approach to a major infrastructure project: “By taking a sledgehammer to the Gateway Tunnel, President Trump is taking a sledgehammer to tens of thousands of jobs, our economy, and American competitiveness. You can’t just gut a critical project families need to get to work and see loved ones.”
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
