Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has recently shared his perspectives on several pressing issues through social media. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
On June 2, 2025, Gottheimer addressed economic concerns related to tariffs implemented by President Trump. He stated that “President Trump’s tariff whiplash is wreaking havoc on Jersey’s economy — sending prices skyrocketing.” He expressed his commitment to mitigating these effects by fighting to lower costs and make life more affordable for families affected by the situation.
Later that day, he hosted a roundtable discussion with Bergen County Commissioner Germaine Ortiz. The event focused on protecting essential programs like Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare for seniors in North Jersey. Gottheimer emphasized that “Our seniors shouldn’t have to worry about far-right extremists”, underscoring his dedication to safeguarding these critical services.
In another post on the same day, Gottheimer condemned an antisemitic attack in Boulder involving members of the Jewish community who were peacefully marching for the return of hostages taken on October 7. He highlighted this incident as yet another instance where “antisemitic violence has reared its ugly head in America”, calling attention to a terrorist attack involving a Molotov cocktail against marchers including a Holocaust survivor.
As Josh Gottheimer continues his legislative work representing New Jersey’s 5th District, he remains vocal about various issues impacting his constituents’ lives from economic policies to social welfare programs and acts of violence affecting minority communities.
