Rep. Josh Gottheimer, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for New Jersey’s 5th district, shared his thoughts on several notable issues through his Twitter account. His tweets discuss topics ranging from cultural celebrations and labor union support to health initiatives for firefighters.
On May 2, 2025, Gottheimer began by acknowledging the start of “#AANHPIHeritageMonth!” He emphasized the significance of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities in New Jersey, stating, “It’s an honor to represent NJ’s AANHPI families in Congress and to serve as an associate member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus @CAPAC.”
Later the same day, Gottheimer expressed pride in his participation at a local labor event. In a tweet posted at 12:58 PM, he mentioned joining the “Passaic County men and women of labor at the Future Leaders Forum Breakfast.” He praised the contribution of labor unions, writing, “Jersey doesn’t work without our hardworking labor unions, who helped build our great state,” and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting them through his work in Washington.
In a separate discussion, also on May 2, 2025, Gottheimer addressed a critical health issue affecting firefighters. He noted his role in establishing the National Firefighter Cancer Registry, adopted by Congress unanimously in 2018, and expressed concern over potential administrative changes. He criticized the current administration, stating, “the Trump Administration wants to dismantle it. It’s outrageous.” Gottheimer is advocating for new legislation to ensure the continued support for first responders.
Josh Gottheimer, who began serving the 5th district in 2017 after succeeding Scott Garrett, is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. Born in Livingston, New Jersey, he currently resides in Wyckoff and remains active in legislative efforts relevant to his constituents.
