Rep. Josh Gottheimer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, shared several updates on June 6, 2025, via social media platform X.
On June 6, 2025, Gottheimer emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable seniors from mistreatment based on identity or sexual orientation. He announced his reintroduction of the Elder Pride Protection Act alongside Rep. Angie Craig during Pride Month to address harassment and abuse against elderly LGBTQ+ individuals. “No one — especially our vulnerable seniors — should ever be mistreated because of who they are or who they love.”
Later that day, Gottheimer commemorated the historical significance of D-Day, marking more than eight decades since American soldiers participated in the Normandy invasion during World War II. He highlighted their courage and its role in defeating Nazi forces and establishing America as a global leader for good. “On this day more than eight decades ago, thousands of brave American soldiers readied themselves to invade the beaches of Normandy and liberate France from Nazi control.”
In a separate post on June 6, 2025, Gottheimer extended his greetings for Eid al-Adha to those celebrating in New Jersey’s Fifth District and beyond. He wished peace, joy, and blessings to all observing the occasion. “Eid Mubarak! Wishing all who are celebrating Eid al-Adha in the Fifth District and across New Jersey peace, joy, and blessings.”
Gottheimer has been serving in Congress since he replaced Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and now residing in Wyckoff at age 48, he holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004).
