Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th District, recently shared his views on pressing issues via social media. Gottheimer, who has been serving in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Scott Garrett, addressed topics ranging from antisemitism to healthcare and education.
On March 18, 2025, Gottheimer tweeted about his engagement at the Jewish Center of Teaneck where he discussed the rise in antisemitism and its broader impacts due to events in the Middle East. He expressed gratitude to Rabbi Daniel Fridman for hosting the event. “It was a privilege to speak at the Jewish Center of Teaneck last night about the rise in antisemitism and hate, and how the ongoing events in the Middle East are affecting us all.”
Later that day, he highlighted concerns regarding proposed Medicaid cuts by far-right extremists which could affect many families in New Jersey’s 5th District. He reaffirmed his commitment through his Senior Security Strategy to protect vulnerable populations’ access to essential Medicaid benefits. “Tens of thousands of families in NJ-5 rely on Medicaid for affordable, quality health care.”
In another post on March 18, Gottheimer emphasized his efforts towards enhancing school meal programs as crucial support for students’ success. He likened students’ potential to rockets needing fuel—symbolizing nourishment—to achieve their dreams and careers successfully. “Jersey students are rockets preparing to take off to a successful life and career.”
