Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, addressed several issues on his Twitter account on May 2, 2026, including the Fifth Court’s decision, presidential war powers, and legislative initiatives in New Jersey and Washington.

Later that day, he referenced the War Powers Act and called for executive accountability in military engagements: “The clock is up. After 60 days, per the War Powers Act, it’s time for the President to come to Congress, review our progress and objectives, and be clear about how he plans to resolve the conflict. The Iranian regime is our enemy, and they deserve to be crushed, but understanding https://t.co/BXoyzVHLNV” (May 2, 2026).
In another post summarizing his week’s activities both in his home state and in Washington D.C., Gottheimer wrote: “Another busy week fighting for Jersey! I started the week in Jersey, where I introduced the “Jersey Pride” tax credit, before heading to Washington to reopen DHS and introduce legislation to condemn online personalities that are stirring up hate. https://t.co/pggWPmiYBI” (May 2, 2026).
Gottheimer has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017. He was born in Livingston in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. Gottheimer holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
