Josh Gottheimer, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th District since 2017, recently communicated his thoughts on a range of topics significant to his constituents through a series of tweets. These messages touched upon religious celebrations, fiscal policies, and upcoming economic challenges.
On March 30, 2025, Gottheimer extended his greetings to those observing Eid al-Fitr with a tweet: “Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating Eid Al-Fitr in the Fifth District, across New Jersey, and around the world! May the joy and blessings of the month of Ramadan remain with us.”
The following day, on March 31, 2025, Gottheimer addressed concerns regarding New Jersey’s federal tax contributions. He tweeted: “Another study shows what we’ve known for too long: Jersey’s federal tax dollars are going straight to Moocher States instead of coming back to help our communities. That’s why I’m fighting to restore the SALT deduction to lower property taxes for hardworking Jersey families.”
Later that day, he criticized impending tariffs, set to be implemented by a former U.S. president. Gottheimer’s tweet read: “In just a few days, President Trump’s reckless tariffs will go into effect, including against our key allies and trading partners — crushing Jersey families and small businesses with a new tax of at least $2,000 a year.”
