Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district, recently shared his concerns on social media regarding various administrative decisions and their impacts. Gottheimer, who has been in office since 2017, expressed his perspectives on issues ranging from health programs for 9/11 survivors to economic policies influenced by tariffs.

On April 4, 2025, Gottheimer criticized the Trump Administration’s decision to dismiss personnel from the World Trade Center Health Program. He described this action as “a slap in the face to 9/11 survivors and first responders” and mentioned his role in leading an initiative urging the administration to reconsider. The full statement can be viewed here.

Later that day, Gottheimer addressed concerns about the politicization of the National Security Agency’s leadership. Using his position as the Ranking Member of the National Security Agency and Cyber Subcommittee on House Intel, he stated, “The head of the NSA is not a political job and it must stay that way.” He further criticized the release of a long-serving member without substantial reasoning. His remarks are available here.

Also on April 4, 2025, Gottheimer commented on economic issues attributed to the administration’s tariff policy after remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. He noted concern about the tariffs causing inflation and economic slowdown, ultimately impacting “Jersey families” and the middle class. More details can be found here.
