Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Gottheimer, who has been vocal about his stance on various political matters, shared his concerns and perspectives in a series of tweets.
On May 22, 2025, Gottheimer criticized the Republican Party’s internal conflicts over their budget bill. He described it as an “extreme-right budget bill” and expressed that even Republicans recognize its detrimental impact on families, children, and seniors. He stated unequivocally that “this bill is an all-out assault on Jersey families.”
In another tweet from the same day, Gottheimer expressed his sorrow and anger regarding a violent incident outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., where two young Israeli Embassy staffers were killed. The victims were reportedly planning to get engaged in Jerusalem the following week. Gottheimer conveyed his sentiments by stating he was “heartbroken and outraged by the horrific attack.”
Later that day, Gottheimer reiterated his opposition to the Republican budget proposal by highlighting its negative consequences for essential services such as healthcare and food assistance. He emphasized that this financial plan would significantly increase national debt by $4 trillion, labeling it as “bad economics and bad policy.”
Josh Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in 1997 and later earned a JD from Harvard University in 2004.
