Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has been vocal on social media about various issues affecting his constituents and the broader public. In recent tweets, he addressed concerns over New York’s congestion tax, criticized actions by far-right extremists regarding senior benefits, and commemorated the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

On March 22, 2025, Gottheimer expressed disapproval of New York’s decision to maintain its congestion tax policy. He described it as “the March Madness no one asked for” and suggested that if New York continues with this approach, they should be ready to reimburse New Jersey commuters for tolls incurred. “New York is clearly on message this month — refusing to end their Congestion Tax cash grab is the March Madness no one asked for.”

Later that day, Gottheimer turned his attention to what he perceives as detrimental policies affecting seniors. He accused far-right extremists of creating unnecessary obstacles for seniors seeking essential benefits. “Instead of protecting our seniors, far-right extremists are screwing them over — creating more hoops to jump through just to receive the essential benefits they desperately rely on.”

On March 23, 2025, Gottheimer marked the fifteenth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He highlighted its significance in providing protections for families with pre-existing conditions and ensuring equitable healthcare costs between genders while offering affordable health coverage to millions across America. “The #AffordableCareAct was signed into law 15 years ago today!”
