Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address concerns over antisemitic rhetoric and economic policy. In a series of posts on July 19 and 20, 2025, Gottheimer called for legislative action against hate speech and criticized recent tariff policies.

On July 19, Gottheimer posted: ‘The Intifada’ refers to a horrific wave of terror attacks that killed thousands of Jews. Globalizing it is a direct call for violence against Jews. It’s time to pass my bipartisan resolution condemning this hate-filled slogan.

Continuing his stance the following day, he wrote: There are no two sides to the meaning of ‘Globalize the Intifada.’ It’s hate speech, plain and simple. That’s why I’m proud to introduce a resolution with @RepRudyYakym condemning this antisemitic slogan. Everyone must step up to combat rising Jew hatred. This post underscores his collaboration with Rep. Rudy Yakym in introducing a congressional resolution aimed at condemning what he describes as an antisemitic phrase.

Later on July 20, Gottheimer shifted focus to economic issues, stating: Let’s be clear: tariffs are a tax on hardworking families. According to new data, 77% of businesses are considering price increases in the next 6 months. Instead of lowering costs like Trump promised, his chaos is only making life more expensive for hardworking families.

Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017 and continues to serve in Congress as of this year. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
