U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district, shared updates on legislative efforts and current events through a series of posts on his official account this week.
On April 9, Gottheimer announced new legislation aimed at animal welfare. In his post, he stated: “This week, I was proud to announce my Bipartisan Protect the Pets Act, to stand up against animal cruelty, and continue fighting for common-sense protections for our furry family members. I also stopped by Buffalo Wild Wings GO for another “Josh on the Job” — always great to https://t.co/3f8GgZm42z”.
Later that day, Gottheimer commented on international developments involving Pakistan and Israel. He wrote: “This is nuts! While Pakistan is leading ceasefire talks, their defense minister is spewing vile rhetoric targeting Jews and Israel. Hateful rhetoric like this is beyond unacceptable and unproductive at this fragile moment. This is not diplomacy and must be condemned.”
On April 10, Gottheimer expressed support for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS. He posted: “I’ll always stand with those living with HIV/AIDS and remember the countless lives lost. We must stay committed to eradicating this disease, combatting stigma, and improving access to care for all.”
Gottheimer has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Scott Garrett as representative of New Jersey’s 5th district (https://bioguideretro.congress.gov/Home/MemberDetails?memIndex=G000583). Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
