Josh Gottheimer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for New Jersey’s 5th district, expressed concerns over various issues through his social media platform. Gottheimer, who succeeded Scott Garrett in 2017, touched on matters ranging from national security to local constituent support.
On May 4, 2025, Josh Gottheimer criticized Pete Hegseth, stating “It’s absurd that Pete Hegseth still has a job, given that he shared classified information in Signal chats with his wife, brother, and personal lawyer.” He further emphasized that Hegseth “should be fired and replaced with someone who can properly protect our nation’s sensitive military information.”
Later that day, Gottheimer took a stand against President Trump’s budget, arguing that it threatened essential services. He declared, “President Trump’s budget is a direct attack on hardworking Jersey families and seniors — slashing support for childcare, health care, public education, and heating and cooling assistance.” He vowed to oppose these measures, stating, “I’ll fight back with everything I’ve got to protect the services our communities rely on.”
In a separate post from the same day, Gottheimer highlighted his commitment to his constituents by detailing a success story involving Lufthansa Airlines. He shared, “When Svitlana reached out to my office for help with a refund from Lufthansa Airlines, we got to work, and made sure to get her every dollar she was owed.” He reinforced his determination to aid families in his district, stating, “I’ll always fight to claw back money that is owed to Jersey families across NJ-5.”
Gottheimer, aged 48, was born in Livingston, New Jersey, and resides in Wyckoff. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
