Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th District since 2017, continues to push for legislative initiatives and organized community engagement efforts. At 48, the Livingston, New Jersey native, known for his role in advancing bipartisan efforts, shared recent updates on his social media platform.

On April 30, 2025, Gottheimer tweeted: “In 2017, I proudly voted for the Women, Peace, and Security Act, a bipartisan bill signed into law by President Trump that reflects what national security leaders have long understood: our world is better off when women are at the table. Now, Pete Hegseth is going around.” This reflects his ongoing support for women’s involvement in security matters, emphasizing the importance of diverse perspectives in national security.

Later that day, Gottheimer announced his collaboration with the Equality Caucus, tweeting, “I’m joining my @EqualityCaucus colleagues in reintroducing the Equality Act to end anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination once and for all. I’m proud it includes my bipartisan legislation to ban credit discrimination based on sexual orientation. No one should live in fear of discrimination.” This statement highlights his commitment to fighting discrimination and promoting equality through legislative efforts.

Gottheimer also encouraged public engagement through a community event, tweeting an invitation to, “Join me TODAY at 4 PM for my 107th Cup of Joe with Josh — live on Facebook! I’ll be sharing updates on my work to lower utility bills, make life more affordable, and protect our communities.” His Cup of Joe events provide an opportunity for constituents to receive updates and engage directly with his policy initiatives.

Gottheimer has served in the U.S. Congress since he replaced Scott Garrett in 2017, representing New Jersey’s 5th District. Previously, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and earned a JD from Harvard University in 2004.
