Josh Gottheimer, a prominent legislator currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th District, recently addressed two crucial issues in a series of Twitter posts on April 28, 2025. Gottheimer has been an active voice in Congress since 2017, succeeding Scott Garrett. The Congressman shared his commitment to honoring the past and protecting community safety moving forward.
On April 28, 2025, Gottheimer tweeted, “It was an honor to stand with North Jersey’s Armenian American community to remember the massacre of 1.5 million innocent Armenians, along with 750,000 Greeks, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Syriacs, Arameans, Maronites, and other Christians during the Armenian Genocide.” This marks his commitment to acknowledging historical tragedies, ensuring they are not forgotten.
On the same day, Gottheimer addressed health management policies, “Second, I’m demanding HHS @SecKennedy keep the Cancer Registry portal open and continue their work on firefighter-related cancer research.” He emphasized the concerted efforts taken through Congress to secure funding for firefighter-related cancer research and affirmed the continuity of this initiative.
Additionally, he announced, “I’m announcing new legislation — the Fight Fires and Fight Cancer Act — to stop the Administration from recklessly slashing programs that support firefighters’ safety, training, and health care.” Highlighting the importance of first responders’ well-being, Gottheimer introduced this legislation to ensure their safety and ongoing support are maintained proactively.
Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975, and currently residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with a BA and earned a JD from Harvard University in 2004. His legislative focus remains firmly on pressing social issues, from commemorating historical incidents to championing contemporary public health causes.
