Representative Josh Gottheimer, who has served New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, addressed several issues affecting his constituents through a series of posts on September 16, 2025.
In a post made at 17:09 UTC, Gottheimer criticized former President Trump’s trade policies, stating, “Families are starting to see the effects of Trump’s reckless, cost-increasing tariffs. It’s simple: tariffs are a TAX on hardworking Jersey families.”
Later that day at 19:30 UTC, he encouraged participation in the electoral process during National Voter Registration Day. He wrote, “Happy #NationalVoterRegistrationDay! Registering to vote and updating your voter registration information are the first steps to making your voice heard in critical upcoming elections in NJ. Register to vote at https://t.co/hBs5kzQUKM”
At 22:12 UTC, Gottheimer turned his attention to airline travel disruptions and passenger rights. He stated, “If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed because of the airline, you deserve compensation — not a voucher you may never use. I’m fighting to guarantee cash compensation for your time and to protect Jersey families from costly travel delays.”
Josh Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University. Since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017, Gottheimer has focused on issues impacting New Jersey residents including economic policy and consumer protections.
