Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who has represented New Jersey’s 5th congressional district since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media on August 12, 2025, addressing issues ranging from economic policy to foreign affairs and local achievements.

In a post at 18:13 UTC, Gottheimer commented on the latest inflation data: “New inflation data confirms what we’ve long known: Trump’s reckless tariffs are driving up prices on everyday goods. Tariffs are a tax on hardworking families. Things will only get worse.”

Later that day, at 20:31 UTC, he addressed U.S.-Turkey relations and military policy, stating: “Turkey has repeatedly supported our adversaries, including Russia and Hamas, and stood against U.S. interests. That’s why they were prevented from receiving advanced F-35 fighter jets in the first place. I joined a bipartisan letter urging @SecRubio to reject Turkey’s complete”

In his final post of the day at 22:38 UTC, Gottheimer congratulated a local athlete for her national achievement: “Congrats to 17 year old Hezly Rivera of Hackensack on winning her first title at the U.S. gymnastics championships! Whether it’s success this weekend or representing the greatest country in the world at the Olympics, you are truly making North Jersey proud.”

Gottheimer is currently serving as a member of Congress for New Jersey’s 5th district after replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
