On April 20, 2025, Gottheimer discussed his recent meeting with the National Beer Wholesalers Association. He highlighted concerns about the impact of President Trump’s tariffs, stating, “Last week, I met with the National Beer Wholesalers Association to discuss how we can support Jersey’s small businesses. President Trump’s tariffs are only whacking our hardworking business owners with higher costs. I’ll keep fighting to ensure Jersey businesses can grow and”.

Later on the same day, Gottheimer announced introducing bipartisan legislation concerning national security. On April 20, 2025, he tweeted, “DeepSeek poses a serious threat to our national security. That’s why @RepLahood and I introduced bipartisan legislation to ban it from all federal devices — and we wrote to governors across the country to ensure they understand the danger it poses. I’m encouraged to see more”.

In the early hours of April 21, 2025, Gottheimer commented on Pete Hegseth’s actions, suggesting that they endangered U.S. service members. He tweeted, “Pete Hegseth’s reckless actions are directly endangering the lives of our brave service members. As I said before, and as a member of the House Intelligence Committee, he should be fired and replaced by someone who can properly protect America’s sensitive information”.
