Rep. Josh Gottheimer, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, shared a series of posts on April 13, 2026, highlighting community engagement, health advocacy, and remembrance of historical tragedies.
In a visit to Demarest Middle School, Gottheimer emphasized civic involvement and the value of curiosity among students. He wrote on April 13: “Great visiting Demarest Middle School, and talking with students about the importance of staying curious, getting involved, and making your voice heard.

Later that day, Gottheimer marked World Sarcoidosis Day by honoring those affected by the disease. Reflecting on personal loss, he posted: “On World Sarcoidosis Day, we honor those fighting this complex disease. After losing my wonderful mom, Gwenn, to this illness, I know how urgent it is that we do more to support patients, families, and researchers working toward better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (1997) and a JD from Harvard University (2004). Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since defeating Scott Garrett in 2017.
