U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer, who serves New Jersey’s 5th district, recently addressed a range of issues in a series of posts on his official social media account. The topics included the ongoing government shutdown, local government efficiency efforts, and support for Ukraine amid the conflict with Russia.
On November 1, 2025, Gottheimer commented on the effects of the federal government shutdown: “From skyrocketing health care costs, to families losing critical food assistance, to causing costly delays at airports — the shutdown is having an impact on our country. Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Scott Garrett. He was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.
