Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has recently expressed his concerns and sentiments on various issues through a series of tweets. His posts address topics ranging from political violence to international travel safety and personal reflections on Father’s Day.
On June 14, 2025, Gottheimer shared his reaction to a violent incident involving Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and Representative Melissa Hortman. He stated, “I’m horrified by the shooting of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and Representative Melissa Hortman. There is no place for political violence in America. We must all stand united — as Democrats and Republicans — against hate and extremism.” He concluded by expressing his prayers for the victims.
Later that day, Gottheimer addressed the ongoing situation in the Middle East with advice for Americans traveling abroad. On June 14, he tweeted, “As the situation in the Middle East continues to develop, I strongly encourage all Americans in the region to enroll in the STEP Program to receive important U.S. embassy updates while traveling abroad.”
On June 15, Josh Gottheimer took a moment to celebrate Father’s Day with a personal message dedicated to fathers across New Jersey. He wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to all the hardworking dads across Jersey who look out for us, teach us, and push us forward.” He also extended special thanks to his own father and stepfather for their influence on him.
Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA and Harvard University with a JD, he continues to serve his constituents since succeeding Scott Garrett.
