Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th District since 2017, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
On June 10, 2025, Gottheimer tweeted about antisemitic attacks affecting Jewish families. He emphasized that they “deserve to live and worship without fear” and mentioned joining Jewish colleagues to urge Congress for action. He called for the passage of the Antisemitism Awareness Act and increased security funding for Jewish institutions. “Following two horrific antisemitic attacks, Jewish families deserve to live and worship without fear.”
Later that day, he highlighted the reliance of 240,000 Jersey families on the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for essential heating and cooling services. Gottheimer criticized President Biden’s decision to dismiss the program’s staff in April and announced his leadership in new bipartisan legislation aimed at preventing these cuts. “240,000 Jersey families rely on LIHEAP to keep the heat on in the winter and the AC running in the summer.”
In another post on June 10th, Gottheimer criticized former President Trump’s tariffs for causing economic disruption by increasing prices and threatening jobs. He expressed his commitment to combating these effects to safeguard New Jersey families from rising costs. “President Trump’s reckless tariffs are now wreaking havoc on our global economy — driving up prices and putting jobs at risk.”
