Representative Josh Gottheimer, who serves New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed issues related to healthcare costs and recognized local medical professionals and institutions in a series of posts on social media.
On October 17, 2025, Gottheimer commented on the financial pressures facing families, stating, “Families are already struggling with higher costs for childcare, food, and energy bills. Higher health care costs would just be another kick in the face. We should all be in Washington every single week until we figure out how to both extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits”.
The following day, October 18, 2025, he highlighted the quality of healthcare facilities in his state: “Jersey is home to some of the best hospitals in the country, and North Jersey is home to some of the best in the state! Congratulations to @HMHChildrens, @HMHNewJersey, and @RWJUH!”
On October 19, 2025, Gottheimer acknowledged a nurse for her dedication at Newton Medical Center: “As a nurse at Newton Medical Center, Ashleigh Mallo has gone out of her way to not just care for the health of her patients, but also their loved ones. Ashleigh went above and beyond by fostering a patient’s service dog, Missy, and helped get it the care it needed.”
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017. Born in Livingston in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, he holds degrees from both the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and Harvard University (JD).
