Representative Josh Gottheimer, serving New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has been vocal about several pressing issues through his recent social media updates. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School, Gottheimer currently resides in Wyckoff, New Jersey.
On May 16, 2025, Gottheimer addressed the ongoing shortage of air traffic controllers at Newark Airport. He stated that “The FAA air traffic controller shortage is crippling Newark Airport — and we need new solutions.” His proposal includes “fast-tracking qualified military controllers ready and willing to help.”
Later on the same day, he highlighted a constituent issue involving Medicare coverage for critical medication. Gottheimer shared that “After switching to Medicare, Patricia found out the life-saving medication she’d relied on since she was 30 was no longer covered.” His office intervened to ensure Patricia could continue accessing her essential medication.
On May 17, 2025, amidst an NJ Transit strike impacting service levels, Gottheimer urged state leaders to suspend New York’s Congestion Tax. He tweeted “Until the NJ Transit strike ends and full service is restored…” calling for relief for Jersey families burdened by high costs during this period.
Josh Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District in Congress since replacing Scott Garrett in 2017.
