Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, marked Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and addressed community concerns about rare diseases and antisemitism in a series of posts on March 27, 2026.
In his first post of the day, Gottheimer wrote, “March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month—a time to reflect on how far we’ve come, recognize the contributions of people with developmental disabilities, and recommit to building a more inclusive future.” (March 27, 2026)
Later that afternoon, he expressed condolences for a local student: “I am heartbroken by the loss of Paramus High School student Waseh Sultani, who bravely fought Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, a rare disease. I will keep fighting in Washington to ensure no family feels alone in the fight against rare diseases. We have to cut through red” (March 27, 2026).
Addressing rising concerns over safety for Jewish communities ahead of Passover, Gottheimer posted: “At a time when antisemitism is rampant across our country, I’m glad to see Jersey communities taking serious steps to strengthen security ahead of Passover next week. Jewish families deserve to feel safe in their own communities, and we must take every precaution to ensure that” (March 27, 2026).
Gottheimer has represented New Jersey’s 5th District since 2017 after succeeding Scott Garrett. He was born in Livingston in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
