Josh Gottheimer, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has recently taken to social media to express his concerns on various pressing issues. Born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University.
On July 8, 2025, Gottheimer expressed his dismay over antisemitic attacks in Australia. He stated, “I am disgusted by the vile antisemitic attacks in Australia this weekend, including a synagogue set on fire while 20 people were inside eating Shabbat dinner.” He emphasized the need for solidarity against such acts of hate.
The following day, on July 9, he criticized former President Trump’s tariff policies. In his post, he remarked that “Trump’s reckless tariffs on our allies play right into the hands of our adversaries — especially China.” He introduced his bipartisan Trade Review Act as a solution to return tariff-imposing powers to Congress and safeguard families in New Jersey from what he described as “Trump’s tariff chaos.”
Later that day, Gottheimer addressed fiscal concerns regarding another policy attributed to Trump. He labeled it as Trump’s ‘Big F’ed Up Bill’ and noted its impact: “whacking hardworking families with a new $3,300-per-year Trump Tax while adding a staggering $3.3 trillion to the national debt.” He warned about its potential consequences for the economy and local households.
