Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has recently shared his views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets.
On July 6, 2025, Gottheimer addressed concerns about antisemitism and political ideologies in a tweet. He stated, “As commonsense Democrats, we’re against socialism, higher taxes, and antisemitism.” He also commented on the phrase “Globalize the Intifada,” describing it as referring to “a horrific wave of terror — attacks that left more than a thousand Jews dead.” Gottheimer criticized Zohran K. Mamdani for not condemning this form of violence amid record-high levels of antisemitic violence.
Later that day at 14:46 UTC, Gottheimer expressed his condolences to those affected by severe flooding in Texas. He tweeted, “I’m praying for the victims and their families affected by the catastrophic flooding in Texas — especially the young campers at Camp Mystic.” He also extended gratitude to first responders working tirelessly under challenging conditions.
In another post on July 6 at 21:00 UTC, Gottheimer criticized a tax bill proposed by former President Trump. In his tweet he asserted that “Trump’s Tax Hike Bill will jack up utility bills, slash health care for millions of Americans, and gut food assistance to hungry children.” He mentioned its impact on New Jersey families with an estimated $3,300-per-year increase in taxes.
Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. An alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA obtained in 1997 and Harvard University where he earned a JD in 2004.
