Josh Gottheimer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has been vocal on various issues through his social media platform. His recent posts address concerns about national security, gun violence, and religious freedom.
On June 5, 2025, Gottheimer raised alarms about the use of platforms like TikTok and DeepSeek by foreign entities. He stated “TikTok and DeepSeek are tools of the Chinese Communist Party — stealing Americans’ data and spewing anti-American, antisemitic, and other hate-filled content to our children.” Gottheimer mentioned leading a letter to President Biden demanding action against these companies linked to the Chinese Communist Party.
In a post dated June 6, 2025, Gottheimer addressed gun violence in America. He emphasized “Here’s the ugly truth: our country faces a gun violence epidemic.” As part of Gun Violence Prevention Month, he urged remembrance for lives lost due to gun violence and committed to working towards passing commonsense legislation aimed at reducing such incidents.
Later that day on June 6, 2025, he commented on an attack against the Sikh community in New Jersey. Expressing concern over this incident he remarked “Freedom of religion and celebrating our great diversity are core American values — especially in Jersey.” The attack highlighted ongoing issues with intolerance within communities.
Josh Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and resides in Wyckoff. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in 1997 and Harvard University with a JD in 2004, he succeeded Scott Garrett as U.S. Congress member for New Jersey’s 5th District.
