Rep Josh Gottheimer, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has been vocal about his recent legislative decisions and expressed concerns through a series of tweets. Born in Livingston, New Jersey, and currently residing in Wyckoff, Gottheimer holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Harvard University.

On April 12, Gottheimer stated his opposition to the SAVE Act via Twitter, explaining his reasoning: “This week, I voted against the SAVE Act, which was just another attempt by far-right extremists to chip away at voting rights and disenfranchise millions of voters. This bill makes it harder for millions of women, our brave troops overseas, and eligible voters across the country”.

Later the same day, Gottheimer commented on an action by President Trump regarding a program aimed at supporting firefighters. He tweeted, “President Trump has turned his back on the 23,000 firefighters enrolled in the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer by shutting it down and firing its staff. This ends our nation’s commitment to reducing the risk of cancer among firefighters. We must always get the backs of”.

On April 13, Gottheimer reflected on his opposition to a budget resolution he regarded as damaging to senior citizens in New Jersey. He wrote, “Last week, I voted against the far-right budget resolution — a direct assault on Jersey seniors. It paves the way for cuts to brutal programs like Medicare and Medicaid that millions rely on, including more than 50% of Jersey seniors in nursing homes who depend on Medicaid for”.

Gottheimer, who replaced U.S. Congress member Scott Garrett, continues to serve on behalf of his constituency, focusing on issues that affect voting rights, public health programs, and the welfare of senior citizens and firefighters.
