Rep. Josh Gottheimer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 5th district since 2017, has recently shared several messages on social media addressing significant issues and events.
On May 14, 2025, Rep. Gottheimer expressed his relief and joy as he moved “Edan’s photo to the rescued side” outside his office in Washington. He noted that since October 7, he had displayed photos of hostages outside his office and reaffirmed his commitment to continuing efforts until every hostage is free.
The following day, on May 15, Rep. Gottheimer emphasized the importance of mental health awareness during #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. He urged people to check in on themselves and their loved ones, stating that asking for help is a sign of strength rather than weakness.
Later that same day, Rep. Gottheimer criticized proposed budget cuts by far-right extremists in Congress who are advocating for a “$300 billion cut to SNAP”. He highlighted the potential impact on nearly 10,000 children in New Jersey’s 5th District alone and described these cuts as not only reckless but cruel.
Josh Gottheimer was born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1975 and currently resides in Wyckoff. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in 1997 and earned a JD from Harvard University in 2004.
